Elli Kokkinou
|
Elli Kokkinou was born in Athena. She was raised with music and grew up loving it. When still a child she sang in the school choir and had classic-guitar lessons. Except from music the girl was also interested in sports. She was in training for water skiing. She even became third in the Greek competition, and was also awarded many golden medals and cups in other smaller tournaments.
As soon as she had graduated from school Elli became the vocals of the group Anonimy. At the same time she was taken in the university to study Architecture models and history of technics.
The first professional appearances of Elli Kokkinou were in 1990. Since then she has worked with such world famous artists as Andonis Vardis, Anna Vissi, Pashalis Terzis, and Emni Dimu.
In 1992 Elli went to Los Angeles where she spent two years studying in the Musicians Institute Of Technology, with subject Theory of music, phonetics and piano. In USA she had the unique chance to perform with the pianist Karl Shoder (from the group Sara Bon) and with Scot Hanson.
In 1994 Elli graduated with honours and came back to native Greece. Two years later she entered into a contract with Tony Greece. Another two years passed before her debut single to be released. It is called Some day and is composed by Andonis Vardis. The album appeared in 1999 with the name `Dangerous games`.
In 2002 Elli began working with Heaven Music, the most powerful Music Company in Greece.
In May 2003 Elli started working over her last album, which appeared in 2004. The name of the project is `In Red` and proves she is one of the greatest Greek artists of all times. All the songs in the album are written by the composer Fibos (who, in fact, stays behind the success of Despina Vandi too). One of the surprises in the album is the duet of Elli with another great Greek star – Nino. The song is a love ballad, of course, called There's so much I want to tell you.
It took quite a short time for this album to become the best sold on the Greek music market. Five great hits were born - Sorry, Masai, Agapi Mou, Erota Mou and Ayto To Kalokaipi.
